Tubac Arizona – Where Art & History Meet
The charming village of Tubac offers the perfect balance between nature and culture, tranquility and adventure, community and solitude. Featuring beautiful wide open spaces, historic and cultural attractions, fine dining and eclectic shopping all beneath incredibly clear blue skies, Tubac is one of the most desirable vacation destinations in the Southwest.
Our unique town is also home to a vibrant community of artists. There are over 100 artisans creating and showcasing their work in the many galleries and working studios surrounding the old Tubac presidio, which was founded in 1752 by Spanish conquistadors.
The first Spanish land grant was awarded in 1787 to the Otero family. That 500-acre grant is now the home of the Tubac Golf Resort & Spa. We are located a leisurely 45-minute drive south of Tucson International Airport and offer convenient access to an outstanding array of outdoor activities and cultural, historical and entertaining attractions.

Tubac effortlessly blends its New World past with modern conveniences. Our town encompasses only a few square blocks and has no need for traffic lights. Nogales is located on the Mexican border and is the largest border town in Arizona. Nogales has a bustling downtown area that features homes and buildings designed in various styles. From Sonoran, Queen Anne cottage and Second Empire to Spanish colonial, pueblo revival and Mediterranean, downtown Nogales is an architectural kaleidoscope, making for an absolutely wonderful walk. As you stroll along historic Morley Avenue you’ll notice many stores that were first established in the early 1900s, like Capin & Company and Bracker’s Department Store. These businesses are run by descendents of pioneer merchants and are still thriving to this day.
The Most Convenient of All the Rio Rico AZ Hotels
At the base of the 6,500 foot San Cayetano Mountains 10 miles north of the border you’ll find the community of Rio Rico (Spanish for “Rich River”). Driving along rural roads you may see coyotes, red tail hawks, grey fox, javelina, deer and maybe even a mountain lion. Many species of water fowl visit the wetlands formed by the river along Rio Rico Drive, making for exceptional bird watching.
